Alpha Sigma Upsilon has a rich history. The sorority began as the Lil Sis Chapter of the Alpha Zeta Fraternity in 1971. In 1993, members of the Lil Sis Chapter created a new organization separate from Alpha Zeta, but keeping traditional ties. This became known as the SHARP chapter, which developed into the sorority Agricultural Sisters United in 1995. The name later changed to Alpha Sigma Upsilon.

In 2000, the ladies of Alpha Sigma Upsilon decided to rent a house to call their own, and moved into the house in Autumn 2001.

Purpose of Alpha Sigma Upsilon

This sorority was not only created as a social organization, but also as a means to recognize individuals worthy of honor, with interests in agricultural and rural life.  It must always be the goal of this sorority to develop leadership, citizenship, fellowship, scholarship and sound character. One of the chief duties of this sorority is to be ever mindful that its goals should be set to improve its members, not only during the college years, but throughout the many years and experiences which shall follow.
